Frequently Asked Questions
What Would You Like For My Personal Page?
It is up to you. Send what you'd like your classmates to see.
Think about what you'd like to know about your classmates and include that kind of information. Classmates are likely interested in knowing where you live, what you and your spouse are doing and have been doing, how many kids you have, interesting things you've done, interesting trips you've taken, and other such things that they can relate to. And please send one or more pictures of yourself.
Reading pages your classmates have sent may give you ideas.

Are You Going To Edit What We Send?
That is NOT the plan. We plan to simply cut and paste whatever you send. We'll fix typos if we catch them, but we don't promise to catch them. A couple of caveats:
- In the unlikely event someone sends something nasty or in REALLY bad taste, we probably won't post it.
- Text takes very little space, so you can include as much text as you want—at the risk of boring readers if it is excessive. Photos, however, take up more webspace, so please don't send more than 4 or 5 photos at most..
In What Format Should I Send Material?
It's easiest if you just include the text in the body of an email and attach photos to the email. You can include the text in a Word document if that's easier for you, but it can create more work for us as certain Word characters (e.g., curly quote marks and many special characters) get garbled when pasted into a web page and need to be cleaned up. For those using Word 2007, the new docx format plays nicer with websites than does the older doc format. If there are any classmates without Internet access, we'll take hard copy.
In What Format Should I Send Pictures?
The easiest thing is to send jpg files just as they come out of the digital camera. We'll optimize them for the web. We'll also do some minor enhancing (brightness, contrast, saturation, etc.) as needed unless you ask us not to do so. If your photos are shot in RAW, feel free to send them that way. If sending a scan of a photo, jpg is best, but we can convert tif or most other formats to the jpg format needed for webpages.
I Have Some Suggestions As To How You Can Make These Pages Better
Don't be shy. We'd like to hear them.
Do You Need Any Financial Contributions To Help With the Site?
NO. We don't plan to spend any money on the site.
Printer-Friendly
All pages on the site are printer-friendly, in case anyone wants to print pages for a classmate who does not have Internet access. All pages on the site will print in portrait layout (i.e., vertically) on regular size 8 1/2" x 11" paper, though the longer pages will take more than one printed page. The Table of Classmate Information takes about 12 pages of paper to print.
There are a couple of differences between the on-screen and printed versions.
- The links on the left side of the webpages are not printed to avoid in order to avoid wasting space on the printed page.
- Images and text in table frames will print in the same layout as on the webpage, but the table frames and cell divider lines will not print.
Who is "We"?
"We" is a lot of class members. John Hoffman set up the site and does the posting. Marc Shell, Joan Morrison Smyth, Steve Mulhall, Dan Watkins, Dan Lichtman, Helen Booth, Chris Rudinsky, Ellen Roseman, Jean Hole Luttmer, and others have helped find classmates. Veronica Hess Shelford did most of the work of preparing the indexed Graduates pages from the Torch. Many classmates have contributed old photos.
We need help from everyone to spread the word about the website and to encourage many classmates to participate and to get current contact information for the as-yet missing classmates. We also need bios and photos for the personal pages, Grad dance photos, and other things that will be of interest to many in the class.
