The 25th Year Reunion—August 1989
In August 1989, twenty-five years after graduation, our class held its first class reunion.
The brainchild of Joan Morrison Smyth, Ginny Tatam Mulhall and Steve Mulhall, the reunion proved to be a great success. At least 21 classmates, and the mother of another, were involved in the planning. The biggest task, by far, was locating classmates. That monumental job was made considerably more difficult by the scattering of the class in response to Quebec separatism. What's more, back then in 1989, the job had to be done without the benefit of email and online telephone directories.
The two main events of the reunion were the Friday evening informal gathering in the MRHS gymnasium, and a dinner Saturday night at the Town Hall. After dinner, a class photograph was taken:
As part of its preparation for the reunion, the Reunion Planning Committee produced the Torch 1989. The title page of the Torch 1989 lists those classmates (and a mother of a classmate) who helped plan the reunion and make it a success.
