ELENI MARIA PONTING (nee ANTON) Eleni, dearly beloved wife of Courteney, passed away at Northumberland Hills Hospital, on Thursday, May 25, 2017. Eleni was born in Montreal on March 17, 1947 to Andy and Poppie Anton. She will be fondly remembered by her brothers, Jim (Wendy) and Dean (Janet); her brother-in-law Stuart; and nephews and nieces, Michael, Nicola, Jennifer, Helen, Jason and Rodney; cousins Nikki, Dean, Betty and Tassie; and Aunt Athena Notar. She was great-aunt to Sophie, Avery, Mathew, Olivia, Reggie, Jake, Leia and Isaac. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Eleni was a compassionate friend to all who knew her and her unconditional willingness to help others was a hallmark of who she was. Eleni was an avid golfer at both Dalewood Golf Club, Port Hope and Seminole Lake Country Club in Florida. Eleni loved to travel with Courteney and friends.
A celebration of Eleni's life will be held Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Dalewood Golf Club between 1 and 4 p.m. The family would like to thank Dr. Theresa Patrella and staff at Sunnybrook Sciences Centre, Odette Cancer Centre, Toronto and Drs. Mark Essak and Kevin Lamb and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg. If friends desire and in lieu of flowers, Memorial tributes may be made to Northumberland Hills Hospital - Palliative Care Unit or Sunnybrook Foundation - Melanoma.
