Ricky Assaly passed away on January 22, 2024. Thanks to Christine Shatilla Emery for sending the sad news. Ricky was living in Boulder, Colorado, when he died. Here is a copy of his obituary.

Ricky Assaly, long time student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and a dear friend of many, passed away at approximately 4:00 am MST Monday Jan 22, of lung and liver cancer. He died at home in the loving care of his daughter Zoe. A celebration of his life will be announced later in the spring.

According to the Internet, Ricky had run a housepainting business in Colorado and was active in Boulder Food Rescue. Here is a nicer photo of Ricky, with a fellow volunteer from Boulder Food Rescue, taken on July 19, 2023:
