Bertram Kidd
In Memoriam
1947-1967

Photo of Bert Kidd

Bertram Kidd was probably the best clarinet player in the history of MRHS. After graduating from MRHS, Bert began attending McGill University on scholarship. Sadly, Bert was murdered along with his girlfriend, Marjorie Sharp, near Buffalo, Missouri during the summer of 1967.

Bert's father was the Rector at St Peter's Anglican Church in Mount Royal.

Bert is fondly remembered by many of his classmates. The Bertram Kidd and Marjorie Sharp Memorial Loan Fund was established at McGill University in 1968 by parents and friends in memory of Bertram Kidd and Marjorie Sharp and is available to McGill students.

The following story about the murder of Bert and Marjorie appeared in the Montreal Star on November 28, 1967:

Montreal Star article, 11/28/1967 about the murders of Bert Kidd and Marjorie Sharp

(Thanks very much to Doug Gilfillan for obtaining the article, and the obituaries below, from Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa. The last line on the left-hand column, which was cut off in the copy Doug received, says:  "Texas-Oklahoma line.")

The following obituaries for Bert and Marjorie appeared in the Montreal Star on November 30, 1967. They are retyped for easier legibility.
