In Memoriam - Janyce Lauer

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our dear colleague Jan Lauer on May 29, 2024. Close to 40 years of dedicated service as Recreation Supervisor for seniors, Jan has been an iconic figure in our community, bringing joy, commitment, and well-being to the seniors in our Town.

A ceremony honoring Jan will take place on Tuesday, June 18th from 14:00 to 16:00 in the Seniors’ lounge at the Recreation Centre. Residents are welcome to partake in signing a memorial book.

Jan was much more than an employee, she was a pillar in our community.

Her career was marked by a multitude of programs and activities designed to meet the varied needs and interests of our seniors. During this time of mourning, we remember with gratitude Jan's many contributions to our community including the launch of the Identification booklets in 2014 for seniors in Mount Royal and Outremont in which she was proudly recognized at the National Assembly of Québec and by the Montreal Police Department.

Jan also initiated and was responsible for a number of programs and activities such as "See me! Respect Me!" for Elder Abuse Awareness, the Craft fair, Holiday Lunch, the Seniors lounge, Strawberry Social, the Golden Circle and numerous outings and excursions catered to our seniors. Her passion and warm presence forged a special bond with everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering dedication, boundless kindness, and legacy of compassion will continue to inspire and guide us as we work towards the well-being and happiness of our seniors. May her memory remain etched in our hearts forever. We would like to express our deepest condolences to her loved ones.

Her colleagues from the Recreation, Culture and Community Activities Department team, the Council Members and all of the Town Personnel.

Here are a couple of photos of Jan that Tanya Antebi, one of Jan's co-workers at TMR, kindly sent me:
