I am so grateful to Helen Booth for providing John Hoffman with my contact information, and to Dianne Hartley for contacting me and providing with the impetus to send in some information.

It seems like yesterday that Val Tarr (unfortunately no longer with us) and I headed down to the Montreal Forum in the wee hours of the morning to stand in line for hours to purchase tickets for all our friends to the Beatles concert. I remember arriving back late in the morning to Mr. Logan’s geometry class with the tickets displayed proudly in my hand when Mr. Logan had his back turned!

I worked in the school library at MRHS—a harbinger of a career to come—and participated on the track and field team in high jump (but could never beat Eleni Anton!) and the broad jump and also curled—a sport which I still enjoy today. I went to the grad dance with Paul Brick and the two of us and all our friends enjoyed the sunrise at a breakfast party at my place.

Following MRHS, I attended Bishop’s University in Lennoxville where Val Tarr and I were roommates for four years. Upon graduation, I got an apartment in downtown Montreal at the corner of Fort and de Maisonneuve and worked for the CIBC. I returned to university at the University of New Brunswick for my Bachelor of Education and taught at Lindsay Place High School in Pointe Claire for four years, followed by 8 years in the Adult Education Division of what was then the Lakeshore School Board. Along the way, I married my college sweetheart, had 3 children (2 girls and a boy), moved to Mississauga, moved back to Montreal, returned to university to get my Masters in Library Science degree from McGill (those years in the library at MRHS were not wasted!), divorced, remarried, and moved to Ontario. My husband Brian (a curling whiz!) and I now live in Pefferlaw on the shore of Lake Simcoe. I am currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library in Stouffville, about 50 km northeast of Toronto. Since moving to Lake Simcoe, I have taken up the sport of dragon boating which I absolutely love!

Children

Kelly is married to Dave and they live in St. Catharines, Ontario. Kelly is the administrative assistant for the Director of Operations at Stratus Vineyards, an upscale winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Kristie graduated from McGill and is now living with her fiancé Shaun in Calgary where she is a sales co-ordinator. Kristie and Shaun are planning their wedding in Jamaica on November 11th and we are all looking forward to the trip.

Kevin graduated in Honours Science from the University of Toronto and is currently Manager of the Orthopaedics Division for a company in Toronto that specializes in medical and pharmaceutical market research.

Kelly J. is my step-daughter, a graduate of Concordia University, and she and her boyfriend Sasha live in Ottawa where Kelly works for the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.

Katie is step-daughter number 2 and lives in Winnipeg with her boyfriend John. John owns his own gravel/concrete/cement company and Katie is in the process of establishing her own catering business.
