Raymond Powell
In Memoriam
2/6/1947–7/5/2005
Ray Powell, 1964
Ray's wife, Peggy, was kind enough to send some photos of Ray and to write about their life after Ray graduated from MRHS:
We met at “The Inn” in St. Sauveur and were married in 1971 in Montreal. After leaving Ridley College, Ray joined The Royal Bank of Canada in Montreal. Several transfers later, we settled in Toronto. Upon Ray's retirement from RBC, we moved to Bayshore Village, a wonderful community on the north shore of Lake Simcoe (just east of Orillia).
We spent many happy summers at the Powell Family Cottage on Lake Simcoe with Ray’s sister, Diane, and her family from Vancouver, his cousin, Donna, and her family from Toronto and many of our friends. We also enjoyed winter vacations cruising in the Caribbean.
Ray felt passionate about many things, principally people, golf, hockey (Mount Royal High School, Ridley College and the Royal Bank teams on which he played) and fair play.
I was a legal assistant with law firms in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto until I retired in 2004.
Ray passed away at the age of 58 after a short battle with a rare form of cancer. He will be in our hearts and minds forever.
