Here is a recent photo of me and my husband Richard. We live at Inverhuron Beach on the shores of Lake Huron (near Kincardine) where I, and my Mother before me, summered as a child.

Richard and I have five adult children, one of whom is married and has three girls ages 11 to 6. Most of our three daughters and two sons live in the Toronto area, except for Ashleigh who is in Waterloo. We just spent Christmas with them and are back at the snowy lake for a few weeks before we take off for Destin, Florida for 6 weeks. I am hoping to play lots of tennis.

Richard and I are also keen golfers and belong to Blackhorse Golf Club during the summer. Richard is Chairman of the Board of Bruce Telecom, a local phone company, and I am in charge of our student rental property in Hamilton.

My Father, Les Stuart, is 88 and lives in the Brant Centre in Burlington. He has a dear friend, Betty (84), who visits him every day, as well as his daughters and a number of grandchildren who visit as often as possible. Dad is still gregarious and interested in life, music, reading and tv sports. He does use a wheelchair most of the time but doesn't let that stop him from going to restaurants, taking short trips in Betty's car and leading the weekly singsong at his residence.

We went on an interesting golf and sightseeing holiday in the Algarve last March. The scenery was unbelieveable as were a number of the courses we played. We met some very friendly people, had great wine and food and really enjoyed our day trip to Seville.

This year we are having some renovations done in our house before the spring and summer bring lots of beach-loving family and friends to visit.

I wish you all good health, happiness and an excellent 2009. Take care,

Joanne Stuart Martin
